Roy Moore Says Gay Marriage Ruling Is 'Even Worse' Than 1857 Pro-Slavery Decision
Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore said he believes a Supreme Court ruling allowing loving adults to marry is worse than the court’s 1857 decision that upheld slavery. In a 2016 podcast interview surfaced by Talking Points Memo on Tuesday, Moore said the Supreme Court’s Dred Scott decision ― which held that black people were property and could not be citizens ― was a better ruling than the 2015 Supreme Court case allowing gay marriage nationwide. - PoliticsAOL.com

A 15-year-old girl in Australia was thrown off her kayak by a 15-foot shark which then hunted her in “spine-chilling” scenes likened to those in Jaws. Sarah Williams was tossed into the air when a shark hit her kayak while paddling alongside her family in the state of South Australia. As the predator repeatedly circled and hit the kayak, she was hauled onto a boat by her brother, who lifted her over the deadly great white shark. - NewsAOL.com
Barack Obama couldn't stop laughing after George W. Bush whispered in his ear
All five living former U.S. presidents gathered at a hurricane relief concert in Texas to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria on Saturday night -- and the Internet can't stop obsessing about one moment between George W. Bush and Barack Obama. During his time in office, Obama was known for his composure and, at times, even disposition. While Bill Clinton delivered a speech discussing the enduring disaster in Puerto Rico, the younger Bush smiled and appeared to whisper something to Obama, making him laugh behind Bill Clinton. - WorldAFP
In Communist China, it's a man's world at the top
When Xi Jinping warned against "pleasure seeking" in a stern message to the Communist Party congress last week, the audience included few women and some notable absentees -- officials ousted by graft scandals involving illicit affairs. The scene was a reminder that China's leadership remains a man's world, where women have been excluded from the highest echelons of power and men have abused their positions in sex-for-favours scandals. Since the Communists took power in 1949, under Mao Zedong who famously declared that "women hold up half the sky", no woman has ever risen to the top ruling council. Facebook® Account Sign Up. Trump Administration Eyes Steep Fee Hikes At America's Busiest National Parks
The Trump administration, which is looking to slash the National Park Service’s budget by nearly 13 percent and eliminate 1,200 full-time staff, proposed Tuesday to drastically hike entrance fees at 17 of America’s most popular national parks, including Yellowstone, Yosemite and Glacier. Currently, at Yellowstone and Zion national parks, rates are $30 per vehicle, $25 per motorcycle and $15 for individuals on foot. Arches and Canyonlands national parks cost $25 per vehicle, $15 per motorcycle and $10 per individual. “We need to have the vision to look at the future of our parks and take action in order to ensure that our grandkids’ grandkids will have the same if not better experience than we have today,” Zinke said. - SportsHuffPost

Police need help identifying child who mysteriously washed up dead on Texas beach
"This is an extremely unusual case for Galveston Island, and the circumstances surrounding this death grow more and more suspicious as time goes on," the department wrote on Facebook. St Andrews University students celebrate 'Raisin Monday'
The “raisin weekend” stems from a gift — originally it was raisins, now it’s flour and shaving foam — traditionally given by first year students to their academic “parents” in gratitude for their guidance. Hundreds of students gathered to throw clumps of foam at each other, and it was all in the name of university tradition. The practice dates back around 600 years, and the name derives from when new students would offer a handful of raisins to older students in exchange for showing them around the university. A more typical present these days might be a bottle of wine. - NewsHuffPost

Trump's drive for lower taxes will be something Republicans regret - whether reform passes or not
Republicans in Washington are about to embark on arguably their most important - and complex - single agenda item of Donald Trump’s first term: tax reform. The fever of anticipation across the land is matched only by the fever of nervousness on Capitol Hill. Police Say 3 Deaths Could Be Work Of Serial Killer 'Terrorizing' Tampa
A string of murders in Florida is sparking fears that a serial killer is targeting Tampa residents. IS 'executed' 116 in Syria town revenge campaign
The Islamic State group executed dozens of civilians this month in the Syrian desert, a monitor said Monday, in a gruesome massacre as the jihadists see their "caliphate" collapse. The extremist group last week lost its key Syrian stronghold of Raqa, the latest in a string of setbacks for the jihadists who are facing multiple offensives in both Syria and neighbouring Iraq. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor, said IS fighters massacred more than 100 people in the desert town of Al-Qaryatain this month before they lost it to regime forces.
