According to Google’s transparency report this Thursday, the Bangladesh government has sent in eight requests asking for information on nine accounts.
Google has provided 25 per cent of the information. The requests were made between January and 30 June this year.
Google said requests from the Bangladesh government for information have increased in recent times. From July to December 2015, the Bangladesh government had sent in seven requests for information on 13 accounts.
Then from January to June 2016, they asked for information on three accounts through two requests. In the last six months of 2016 three requests for information on three accounts were sent in. This time eight requests were sent.
Google reviews the requests sent in from various quarter and responds in keeping with its policies. It began publishing its transparency report from 2009.
