Relationships are complicated. Whether you are 25, 35 or 65. But, when you are 27 and he is 39... Is that too much?

Is 39 too old for a 27-year-old?
Now that we are writing under Swirlster Staff, we can write most of our secrets in life. Under this veil, let me tell you a real story that my mother doesn't know about. I was 19, in college and he was 31. He was a guest lecturer - cute, suave, eloquent and liked a classic rock band called Dire Straits - and that really was enough. It was an innocent love but that's not what I wanted. He wouldn't make a move and I was too shy to say anything. Much later, after a couple of drinks, he said I was too young for him. I was devastated and he was probably being a gentleman.
This got us thinking.
How young is too young? Apparently, there is a mathematical formula that can tell you if your relationship is age-appropriate.
Take the age of the older one. Divide it by 2 and add 7 years to it. So, say if the older one in the couple is 40. So, 40 divided by 2 = 20. Add 7 to it. That is 27. So, the younger needs to be at least 27.
Disclaimer: The age of the younger person in the relationship must be 18 years or above.
According to this formula, Cheeni Kum wasn't the best combination! Amitabh Bachchan's character was 64 years old chef and Tabu was 34 years old. 64/2 = 32. 32+7 = 39. She was 34.
'Mathematical formulae' like these are usually like the 'FLAMES' game we would play in school. Good for a giggle here and there, a vague sense of estimate. Don't take these things seriously. Just fall in love, sensibly.
